My many first timess in Aus

My first time to eat something similar to blue vein cheese with plain crackers and went along with port. It tastes really distinct, strange, unique....hmmm may be it could be described with one word, that's peculiar...Aih...Hard to comprehend by words, must try physically. We studied about the process of the cheese and knew that this particular one is full of mould, however, edible mould. It has a very stink smell and very complex taste. I reckon the taste is very similar to yeast extract. A bit gross when I first bite but I got used to the taste and adapted to it pretty fast. Some people even like it very much. Hmmm...Why Ah???. May be something similar to chinese 'rotten bean curd', smelly but the taste is not bad at all.

My first time to drink Port. I didn't even know what was Port before last night. The explanation from Wayne was Port is a kind of aged fortified sweet wine. Those we had last night was a good quality Port. It cost around AUD$40. The port tastes better than red wine, not as astringent as wine, but much stronger and well-rounded than wine. I could feel my throat was slight burning when I swallowed it. And guess what, I'm such a clumsy girl, I spilled my glass of Port on the floor. Luckily the glass was saved immediately. I could imagine Wayne must be feeling heart pain when he saw his port was on the floor, serving the 'floor God' (Di zhu gong)....haha... I felt bad on it. Next time I'll be more careful when I'm handling those 'posh' stuffs.

My first time to eat custard apple today. It's similar to sour sop in terms of the shape and texture, but taste wise is slightly different. Custard apple is sweeter whereas sour sop is more sourish. I like sour sop better though. May be the Custard apple that I had was way over-ripen. Fear not , I still have one more sitting on the table. Let's try again tomorrow.

My first time to taste Vegemite, ate with crackers, some day in the first week here. It is yeast extract thingy. People spread it on bread, cracker, or eat it with porridge. It's kinda salty and strange. But I think it would be nicer to eat with porridge. Should I buy some back???? May be as souvenirs...haha...=)))

My first time to eat lontong. As what they said it's malay food, but how come I never tried before, so strange. I started to question my nationality already...haha....My lady boss cooked lontong for us today. Lontong is compact rice like ketupat, only differ by the shape. Ketupat is wrapped in banana leaf or something and it is normally square. Whereas, lontong does not have particular shape and can be make in any feasible way. We ate it with veges curry, has got bean curd, cabbage, long bean in it. She mixed laksa and tom yam paste together and got that very own flavour. It was very nice though. I ate 2 bowls for lunch, so greedy!!! Don't care!!! I have not been eating chinese/Malay/Indian food for a long time. Must eat to the max...=p
